Calverstown MX Track Private Hire is still available Scheduled Public Motocross Practice is discontinued.

Considering the reaction generally to our offer to the public to use the track on a subscription basis for 2025, that we communicated was necessary to get some certainty about attendance numbers and the assurance regarding whether we would cover our overhead costs of € 35,500 per annum for the coming year,

30 people promised to take up our Subscription offer that would have provided them with practice days at a cost of between € 25 to € 50 per session depending on the Subscription offer selected, with the condition that the full value of the Subscription was paid in advance, so very good value like always would have been provided by Calverstown MX, however as usual people are unreliable and most of the promises to Subscribe were empty and we have only received 6 actually confirmed and paid up Subscribers that have Subscribed and paid their money to back up their word and promise, and we am very grateful to those loyal to Calverstown MX that have fulfilled their promise to Subscribe to support the continuation of the Calverstown Motocross Practice Facility.

The reality of 2025 so far is that Calverstown MX have spent € 1,567 on Fuel and Machinery Preparations and Repairs to get the track ready for the first practice last Sunday and an additional €225 for the Paramedic for last Sundays Practice, so a total outlay cost for the first practice is € 1,792 against an actual income for the first day of practice of €187 with the attendance of six people so we have lost € 1,605 by holding the first practice day, and that doesn’t include the 80 hours spent preparing the track and getting machinery ready or repairing machinery, so you don’t have to a genius to work out that losing money on the scale outlined above is not sustainable.

We had a lot of apprehensive about opening the Calverstown MX gates in 2025 because our losses over the last few years was telling us that the viability of providing the scheduled motocross practice to the public was gone, now we have confirmation that our opinion was correct and we are left with the only sensible choice that can be made at this stage, to call it a day, to close the track for Schedule Motocross Practice Sessions completely and sell the machinery to recover some part of the investment Calverstown MX has made to provide a Motocross Practice Facility for scheduled public use, the six people that paid their Subscription will be refunded what they paid less €50.00 for attendance at the practice on the 23rd March 2025
